Nonequilibrium dynamics following a quench to the critical point in a semi-infinite system.

چکیده
We study the non-equilibrium dynamics (purely dissipative and relaxational) in a semi-infinite system following a quench from the high temperature disordered phase to its critical temperature. We show that the local autocorrelation near the surface of a semi-infinite system decays algebraically in time with a new exponent which is different from the bulk. We calculate this new non-equilibrium surface exponent in several cases, both analytically and numerically. PACS numbers:75.10.Hk, 64.60.Cn, 64.60.My, 64.70.Md Typeset using REVTEX

Universal short-time behavior in critical dynamics near surfaces.
We study the time evolution of classical spin systems with purely relaxational dynamics, quenched from T ≫ T c to the critical point, in the semi-infinite geometry. Shortly after the quench, like in the bulk, a nonequilibrium regime governed by universal power laws is also found near the surface. We show for 'ordinary' and 'special' transitions that the corresponding critical exponents differ f...
متن کاملQuantum Quenches in Chern Insulators.
We explore the nonequilibrium response of Chern insulators. Focusing on the Haldane model, we study the dynamics induced by quantum quenches between topological and nontopological phases. A notable feature is that the Chern number, calculated for an infinite system, is unchanged under the dynamics following such a quench. However, in finite geometries, the initial and final Hamiltonians are dis...
متن کاملBlocking and Persistence in the Zero-Temperature Dynamics of Homogeneous and Disordered Ising Models
A “persistence” exponent θ has been extensively used to describe the nonequilibrium dynamics of spin systems following a deep quench: for zero-temperature homogeneous Ising models on the d-dimensional cubic lattice Zd, the fraction p(t) of spins not flipped by time t decays to zero like t−θ(d) for low d; for high d, p(t) may decay to p(∞) > 0, because of “blocking” (but perhaps still like a pow...
متن کاملSolvability of infinite system of nonlinear singular integral equations in the C(Itimes I, c) space and modified semi-analytic method to find a closed-form of solution
In this article, we discuss about solvability of infinite systems of singular integral equations with two variables in the Banach sequence space $C(I times I, c)$ by applying measure of noncompactness and Meir-Keeler condensing operators. By presenting an example, we have illustrated our results. For validity of the results we introduce a modified semi-analytic method in the case of tw...
متن کامل1 2 Se p 20 01 Nonequilibrium critical dynamics of ferromagnetic spin systems
We use simple models (the Ising model in one and two dimensions, and the spherical model in arbitrary dimension) to put to the test some recent ideas on the slow dynamics of nonequilibrium systems. In this review the focus is on the temporal evolution of two-time quantities and on the violation of the fluctuation-dissipation theorem, with special emphasis given to nonequilibrium critical dynami...
